OK...now I have pretty much gotten my email under control...adjusted the spam filter, unsubscribed and did every other geek speak thing I could think of. My "inbox" is far more manageable!
Now that I have all of this extra time another thing I noticed was...I am getting less "snail mail"! As a matter of fact I just complained to one of my utilities that I did not get a reminder notice and I was informed that I opted to go "paperless". I need my "snail mail" back! I am all about going green, but sometimes I just like to open, touch, read and the cost conscious part of me likes to avoid a late charge! As a matter of fact, the utility told me they emailed me my "reminder" but I must have had their url blocked on my spam filter.
This has convinced FisherMears that direct mail has not gone away...the field has actually opened up! We did a little of our own research and found this to be the case with some of our own real people... a client informed us that our message to them was not received because our url was not on their preferred list!
We did some surfing and found statistics that show that in the business to consumer universe there is only 30% contact coverage for email messages! Print direct mail has 100%! This information was posted in response to an excellent article in the Wall Street Journal recently. Email messaging is certainly less expensive, but I am willing to gamble on our skill at creating quality direct mail... the kind that grabs your attention, tugs at your heart, makes you an offer...the ones that do not go directly to the circular file.
And, hey…people take mail seriously. It’s a daily priority. It’s personal and it’s tangible. They can hold it. Feel it. Touch it. Its very nature allows you to use lots of space to communicate your message. And like email, direct mail’s ROI is highly measurable. It makes good sense to keep producing quality direct mail. Incorporate a website on that mail and send the reader to your website. We absolutely love the convenience of online shopping, bill paying, etc...but with so much being thrown at us "paperlessly" ... we need now, more than ever, a "reminder"... something that stands out from the crowd!
We create direct mail that has all of that appeal...it makes you want to read it...the message touches your heart...it stands out from the clutter! Not only do we get attention via the "snail mail"... we have been invited to the "inbox" as well as the mailbox! Use direct mail and choose from many format and paper options to evoke feelings and communicate the high quality of a product or service.
